Memory: Grand Hyatt - Beijing,China

Okay, this isn’t the Grand Hotel. I failed to take photos of the joint while I was staying with them, but how awesome is the Great Wall of China?

This is quite the throwback but, damn, what a brilliant trip it was. First up, the Grand Hyatt bumped us from a room to a suite. 谢谢 (thanks!)

Then, they organised a private car and guide to escort us to Mutianyu, the longest and most beautiful section of the Great Wall of China. It's also a fair stretch from Beijing central, so it avoids the crowds that swarm the Badaling section.

We ascended via cable car, then explored, relaxed and took it all in before speeding back down upon a toboggan. True story. As far as days go, it was #amaze #lifegoals #didIjustdothat?

The Grand Hyatt's location was perfection. It sat upon the corner of Chang'an Avenue and the famous Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, and all the ancient sights surrounding them, were within a cruisy walking distance.

Signing off a day with a relaxing swim and spa is one thing. Escaping to a tropical paradise in a 1,500 sqm sapphire pool featuring waterfalls, and stone grottos, in the hotel BASEMENT is equal parts absurd and glorious.

While relaxing in the pool after our day upon the Great Wall, floating and gazing up at the fake starry sky, lulled into a state of total zen thanks to the gentle soundtrack of birds singing and froggy ribbits, I smiled and whispered to myself, "if nothing else, remember this day!"
